Follow-up questions

Appropriate Population: 

  • 5 years and up
  • Moderate or mild delay or age-appropriate cognitive, expressive and receptive language ability

Goal:

  • Giving follow-up questions
  • Giving information

Steps:

  1. Read out a comment– you can create your own or use the follow-up questions resource (target population 5-7 years old)
  2. The client needs to come up with 2 follow-up questions they would ask based on the given comment.

Step up: 

  • Take 5 conversational turns per comment

Step down:

  • Come up with 1 follow-up question to ask

  5.     I forgot to bring my lunch today.
  6.     I like playing sports.

  9.     I have sandwich for lunch today.
  10. It’s my brother’s birthday today.
  11. I watched a movie at the cinema last night.
  12. I was moving to a new house yesterday.
  13. I feel sick.
  14. I like to play outside during lunchtime.
  15. Mum and Dad are getting me a puppy today.
  16. I like eating donuts.
  17. I went to the aquarium yesterday.
  18. It’s my mum’s birthday today.
  19. I am watching a movie tonight.
  20. I forgot to bring my water bottle today.
  21. I like playing tiggy during lunchtime.
  22. Dad got me a new toy.
  23. I fell down at the playground just now.
  24. I don’t like this sandwich.
  25. I can’t wait for Saturday.
